This painting is of a Blue- Fronted Amazon Parrot also known as a Turquoise -Fronted Amazon and a Blue-Fronted Parrot.  Considered  one of the most common parrots kept in captivity it's also popular for it's keen vocalization, often touted as only second to African Greys depending on who you ask. There also seems to be a slight debate on whether they are endangered or not. In any event their numbers are declining in the wild. Native to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay. 

These birds popularity extends beyond their ability to talk and their beauty. They are also playful and good companions when well loved. They tend to be loyal lifelong friends to their human companions. In the wild they mingle with other species of Amazon.
